Georgia Health Matters
Yolanda Mendoza-Miller is a recent graduate of Georgia State University. She received her Master’s degree in Gerontology under the Administrative track. As part of her Capstone project, Yolanda created the GeorgiaHealthMatters.org website.
The Georgia Health Matters website was created to be a central point of information for all the Evidence Based Wellness programs promoted by the Department of Human Services/Division of Aging Services. Using recommendations from the National Institute on Aging/National Library of Medicine, the website was designed to address the needs of the aging population. Some of the needs may include changes in vision and physical dexterity. The website includes text enhancements, minimal scrolling, and videos. One other feature is the language translation tool used to include Georgia’s diverse aging population. The tool can translate the information in 11 different languages. More importantly, Georgia Health Matters was designed to be user friendly for older adults that maybe unfamiliar with technology.
Yolanda is now working for Senior Connections as the North DeKalb Senior Center Manager.
