LEADING THE WAY
IN AN AGING SOCIETY
The metro Atlanta area is one of the fastest aging urban regions in the United States.
Over the past five years, Gerontology has attracted students from a variety of countries, including China, Ghana, India, Nepal, Nigeria and Taiwan.
Although the MA program in gerontology began in 2002, Georgia State has been offering certificates in gerontology for more than 40 years.
Making a Difference
The Gerontology Institute builds on more than 40 years of gerontology education. It is among the oldest and most accomplished gerontology programs in the Southeast.
Gerontology students receive individual attention and mentorship, but also have all the benefits of being at a large, urban university. In downtown Atlanta, Georgia State is in proximity to numerous programs, services and organizations that provide students with first-hand experiences in the field of aging. The State Capitol, Division of Aging Services, Atlanta Regional Commission, Grady Hospital and many other organizations are within walking distance of campus.
