SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS
The Gerontology Institute awards several scholarships to deserving students in the spring of every academic year. Students will receive correspondence via email on the application process and deadlines for these scholarships. If you have questions, please email us at gerontology@gsu.edu.
Student Scholarships
This endowed scholarship was created in honor of Anne Eaton, an alumna of the first class of gerontology graduates in 1977. It is awarded annually to an outstanding graduate student. Preference is given to students age 40 or older.
The Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly Authority of Fulton County funds four scholarships annually to outstanding entering or continuing graduate students.
These endowed scholarships are made possible by the continuing endeavors of the Gerontology Alumni Club. Currently two scholarships are available for entering graduate students.
This endowed scholarship is given in memory of Allen and Eleanor Hollingsworth by their family. It is awarded to an outstanding entering or first-year Master's degree student studying gerontology.
Established by Carol Rowe Jones, a recent alumna of the gerontology program, and her husband, Waymon Jones, this new endowed scholarship will be awarded annually to an outstanding gerontology student. Preference will be given to students under-represented in the University System of Georgia.
This endowed scholarship is given in honor of Harold V. Little and in memory of Anna Marie Little by their family. It is awarded to an outstanding entering or first-year Master's degree student studying gerontology.
Established in honor of Charles and Catherine B. Rice, this endowed scholarship is awarded to an outstanding entering or first-year Master's degree student studying gerontology.
This scholarship is given in memory of Mary MacKinnon, an alumna and former staff member of the Gerontology Institute by her family and friends. It provides support for undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate great passion for hands-on work in the aging community.

Annual Awards
The Gerontology Institute hosts an award ceremony every spring to recognize outstanding students, faculty, alumni, community members, and organizations. Awards candidates are nominated by the gerontology community and selected by the Awards Committee. During the ceremony, we also recognize all students who earned Gerontology certificates and degrees from our program over the past year.
This award is presented to an undergraduate certificate or minor student at Georgia State University who distinguishes oneself by outstanding scholarship and significant community or university service and demonstrates potential for leadership in the field of aging.
This award is presented to a graduate certificate student at Georgia State University who distinguishes oneself by outstanding scholarship and significant community or university service and demonstrates potential for leadership in the field of aging.
This award is presented to an M.A. student at Georgia State University who distinguishes oneself by outstanding scholarship and significant community or university service and demonstrates potential for leadership in the field of aging.
This award is presented to a graduate of the Gerontology Institute at Georgia State University who has made outstanding contributions to the field of aging. It is intended to recognize sustained achievement as an educator, researcher, professional, or volunteer working to improve the lives of older people.
This award is presented to a member of the Gerontology faculty at Georgia State University who has made significant and sustained contributions to gerontological education, research, or service and advanced the goals of the Gerontology Institute.
This award is presented to an individual or organization, not necessarily connected to Georgia State University, that has made outstanding contributions to the field of aging. It is intended to recognize sustained commitment to the goal of improving the quality of life for older persons in the metropolitan Atlanta community, whether through professional or volunteer involvement in service provision, teaching, or research activities.
